Tearfund: Thank You From Haiti

Thank you

Three months have passed since the Haiti earthquake – a huge disaster.

And we need to say thank you. Because, as big as this disaster was, its proportions have been matched by the staggering and inspiring response of the UK church.

Your generosity has been truly amazing. You’ve prayed for those affected and those responding. And you’ve given millions of pounds. You have fuelled our response, enabling us to reach out with hope and help. Thank you for all you have done as a Church Representative to encourage your church to respond.

We’ve produced a short film. It will show you some of the work you’ve made possible, and tell you some stories of hope from Haiti. It would be fantastic if you could show this film in your church this weekend or next.

Looking ahead

More than 200,000 people lost their lives in the quake, and around 3 million were affected. The task ahead – rebuilding homes and infrastructure, and rehabilitating lives – is huge. Please continue to remember the people of Haiti, our staff, and our partners in your prayers.

Before the Haiti earthquake, UK churches and individuals had given generously to our disasters fund. This made it possible for us to respond within hours of the quake. If you can, please support our response to future disasters here

Thank you again, for loving your neighbour as God asked us to, in thought, and word, and deed.

Warm regards

Liz Green
